Members are prohibited from using the mop for cleaning purposes. Instead, they must utilize the floor squeegee, wet sponging, and the dustpan for solid waste removal. Storage options may be available upon request, subject to availability and additional fees.
  4. Studio Clay Usage
    1. Only clay provided by Shared Floor Ceramics is permitted for use in the studio or for firings. This policy is essential to prevent potential damage to studio equipment, particularly kilns, and to ensure compatibility with studio glazes. Outside clay has not been tested for compatibility with our equipment or glazes. Adhering to this policy safeguards the studio's equipment and maintains consistency in firing results for all members.
      1. Members may request approval to use outside clay in the studio by submitting a written request via email to “info@sharedfloorceramics.com”. The request should include details about the type and source of the clay, as well as any relevant information about its composition or characteristics.
      2. Written Approval Requirement: Approval for the use of outside clay must be obtained in writing via email from studio management. Verbal approvals will not be considered valid.
    2. Members found using unauthorized clay may face disciplinary action, including but not limited to fines, suspension of studio access privileges, or termination of membership. Any damages resulting from the use of unauthorized clay will be the responsibility of the member.
    3. Every month, Independent Study Members are provided with 25 lbs of clay for use in the studio. Any discrepancies or concerns regarding clay allocation must be reported to studio staff immediately for resolution within the clay allotment month. Additional clay is available for purchase from the studio if needed.
    4. Independent Study Members are not allowed to fire more than 50 lbs of clay in a month. This limitation is in place to ensure fairness and to maintain the studio's focus as a community space rather than supporting large-scale production pottery making. It allows all members equitable access to kiln firings and resources within the studio.

    1. Storage Shelf
      1. Ensure personal storage space (4ft x 2ft) is kept reasonable tidy and clean

    3. Work Tables

    5. Kiln Damage Notice
      1. Any damage to kiln shelves resulting from the use of unapproved glazes/clay bodies will result in fines imposed on the responsible member. These fines are intended to cover the costs associated with repairing or replacing damaged kiln shelves and ensuring the continued safe operation of the studio's firing equipment. Members are expected to adhere to all firing procedures and guidelines provided by Shared Floor Ceramics to minimize the risk of damage to studio equipment. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to fines, suspension of studio access privileges, or termination of membership.

Shared Floor Ceramics will make reasonable efforts to notify members in advance of any such restrictions, and alternative access arrangements may be provided where feasible.
    2. The last person exiting the facility is responsible for locking and securing the premises. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to warnings, fines, or suspension of studio access privileges. Additionally, the member may be held liable for any damages or losses incurred due to the premises being left unsecured, including theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access. It is imperative that all members adhere to this rule to ensure the safety and security of the studio and its occupants.
  8. Guest Policy
    1. Each member may bring a maximum of 1 guest per visit. This limit ensures that the studio can accommodate guests without impeding the activities of paying members.

    3. Guests are welcome to observe ongoing studio activities and interact with studio members. However, they are not permitted to engage in any pottery-related activities, such as clay work or kiln firings, unless they are registered studio members.
    4. For full studio use, day passes for guests are available for purchase. Members are permitted to purchase up to 4 guest passes a month.
    5. Studio members are encouraged to host guests during times when the studio is not overly crowded or busy. If the studio is at full capacity and accommodating guests would impede the activities of paying members, guests may be asked to postpone their visit until a more suitable time.
    6. Studio members are responsible for supervising their guests at all times while they are in the studio premises.
